Dear EasyBuilders,

I'm happy to announce the release of EasyBuild version 3.6.1 [1].

This is a great release. None of the other projects have a release like this. It's the best.

This is primarily a bugfix/update release.

Highlights include:

    * fix traceback that occurred with --new-pr w.r.t. setting labels

* fix problem where temporary module file loaded during sanity check was shadowed by an already existing module in a hierarchical module naming scheme

* consider 'lib64/*' fallback for 'lib/*' files/ & directories (& vice-versa) in sanity check, for better compatibility with SUSE-based systems

* added support to PythonPackage easyblock to detect auto-downloaded dependencies (disabled by default for now, can be enabled using "download_dep_fail = True")

* provide control over which paths get added to $PATH in Binary easyblock

* minor updates to Boost, ESMF, Maple, PETSc, WIEN2k easyblocks to support latest versions

* support for 24 new software packages, incl. dotNET-Core-Runtime, ecCodes, HOME, NetPIPE, wxWidgets

* updates for already supported software, incl. Boost 1.67.0, ESMF 7.1.0r, GATK 4.0.4.0, GCC 8.1.0, GROMACS 2018, OpenBLAS 0.3.0, PETSc 3.9.1, PGI 18.4, TensorFlow 1.8.0, WIEN2k 17.1

    * new toolchains: fosscuda/2018a and giolfc/2017b

    * various additional bug fixes, updates & enhancements

This brings the total number of supported software packages to 1,461!
An up-to-date list of supported software is available at http://easybuild.readthedocs.io/en/latest/version-specific/Supported_software.html .

A detailed overview of all changes is available in the release notes, see http://easybuild.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Release_notes.html.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this release in one way or another!

To upgrade to EasyBuild v3.6.1, there are several options [2].
Two particularly easy options include:

    * eb --install-latest-eb-release
      # this requires EasyBuild v3.3.0 or more recent since support
        for SHA256 checksums is required

    * eb --from-pr 6386               # use easyconfig from PR #6386 [3]

Enjoy!

regards,

Kenneth (a.k.a. boegel)
