Hej John, Isn't this what happens to do old OpenSSL on CentOS6(or similar)? I don't recall the exact error I got myself, but I think this was it. You have to modify the script to also build an EB-supplied OpenSSL when the OS-depenency is to old (there are some comments in the config).
