Yes, yes, and yes.  The `module-syntax` setting only affects the
generation of new modulefiles.  To work with modulesfiles (e.g.,
check their existance, load them, etc.), EB uses the module tool
in charge (in your case Lmod), which can transparently handle
both formats.
