Dear EasyBuilders,
I'm happy to announce the release of EasyBuild v3.7.1 [1].
As confirmed by local elections in Belgium last weekend: this is the
best EasyBuild release to date!
Highlights include:
* several bug fixes for the 'module wrappers' support via ModuleRC
generic easyblock, in particular for setups using Lmod 6.x, a
hierarchical module naming scheme, or module files in Lua syntax
* several bug fixes for the enhanced (subtoolchain-aware)
--try-toolchain option
* Lmod version requirement lowered to 6.5.1
* support for bypassing the module version check via
--disable-modules-tool-version-check (use at your own risk!)
* new software-specific easyblock for fastStructure
* let ConfigureMake easyblock set both --build and --host configure
options based on output of config.guess script + support bypassing the
use of config.guess
* fix checking for downloaded dependencies for stand-alone
installations in PythonPackage generic easyblock
* enhanced/updated easyblocks for CP2K, FreeSurfer, Qscintilla, Qt5
* avoid downloading of Python packages required for TensorFlow during
installation, by including them as extensions instead
* new version for foss toolchain: foss/2018.08 (based on GCC 8.2)
* support for 26 new software packages, including NAG & NAGfor,
NeuroKit, PMIx, ...
* various updates for already supported software, incl. binutils
2.31.1, dask 0.19.4, GCC(core) 8.2.0, OpenBLAS 0.3.3, OpenMPI 3.1.2,
Pillow 5.3.0, PyCUDA 2018.1
* various additional bug fixes, updates & enhancements
This brings the total number of supported software packages to 1,564!
An up-to-date list of supported software is available at [2].
A detailed overview of all changes is available in the release notes [3].
Thanks to everyone who contributed to this release in one way or another!
To upgrade to EasyBuild v3.7.1, there are several options [4].
Two particularly easy options include:
* eb --install-latest-eb-release
* eb --from-pr 7050 # use easyconfig from PR #7050 [5]
Enjoy!
regards,
Kenneth (a.k.a. boegel)
