The problem seems to be an HTTPS issue, see:
ssl.SSLError: [SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed
(_ssl.c:841)
Not sure if that's something on the system you are using (the Python
built by EasyBuild has checks for this), or some problem upstream.
It's quite possible that the mnist_with_summaries.py example script that
EasyBuild is using to check the TensorFlow installation got broken due
to changes in the TensorFlow repositories...
