Yes, slurm also need PMIx if you want to use it, but we build slurm
outside of easybuild and also the ucx/pmix/libevent that slurm uses.
The main advantage for us to use PMIx is not the faster startup but
rather not having do rebuild openmpi almost every time we upgrade slurm.
