Hi John,

Not sure if anyone ever got round to replying but removing software is a
long-standing discussion/debate within EasyBuild.

TLDR; Deleting .local/easybuild and starting again would probably be best
practice right now.

The issue is that we are usually not just installing software for ourselves but
for others to use as well, and deleting something may unintentionally break
something for someone else. There are a couple of open PRs related to this
(https://github.com/easybuilders/easybuild-framework/pull/2783 and
https://github.com/easybuilders/easybuild-framework/pull/2784 and there may be
more) but it is very difficult to figure out the right solution for this case.
Because there is no clear path, it leaves us in limbo.

Alan

I installed the latest version of Easybuild yesterday under $HOME/.local
then installed the Dev version for the 2020a sprint
All OK so far.
Then I ran
eb HPL-2.3-foss-2020a.eb --robot

This installed lots of software and modules under .local
I prefer to have software installed under /software (or something like that)

My question: is there a method to remove Easybuild packages and module files?
I just deleted all of .local/easybuild then started again with
$EASYBUILD_PREFIX=/software
