Dear EasyBuilders,

We're happy to announce the release of EasyBuild v4.5.3 [1].

Much to our surprise, it turned out that EasyBuild v4.5.2 was not our best release to date...

Due to changes related to OS (version) detection, EasyBuild v4.5.2 is crashing hard on systems running a (derivative of) a recent SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) version as OS.

The problem was reported on Fri 4 Feb 2022, and fixed in the develop branch on Tue 8 Feb 2022. Some measures were taken to prevent an issue like this from being reintroduced, and more will be taken going forward.

Given the impact of this problem, we figured it was worthwhile to push out another release a bit quicker than usual (EasyBuild v4.5.2 was released only 2.5 weeks ago), also because there has been a lot of activity recently w.r.t. merging incoming contributions.

EasyBuild v4.5.3 is primarily a bugfix and update release, but it also includes various minor enhancements.

Highlights for this release are listed below. More details are available in the release notes [2] which includes links to the respective pull requests for more detailed information.
