Hi Steve > Wow, guess I must invite more people and not just Mr. Rado to have a drink > in Jakarta, Indonesia! :-) > > All of you, if you ever visited Jakarta, Indonesia - my simple hometown, > please do call me and perhaps we can meet to talk and have a drink, ok? > :-) thanks for the invention, but I have no plans in this part of the world yet :-) > @Andreas Dick: Thank you for your email. I see, so an NFS configuration > interface is not available in eBox yet, or perhaps it wasn't meant to? Can > you please share with me, to what extend or degree that Samba is - as you > have perfectly said - so much different, if not inferior, than NFS? well, I am not up to date with the current samba, but I point the following differences (problems) I found few years ago: 1) speed (I think samba is much slower than NFS, maybe this is not longer valid? 2) file attributes are different 3) special characters in filenames are handled different (was a mess in the past, how is it now?)
On the ohter hand, if you setup and use ONLY samba shares, it could work as you expect, but you should test it first! (I plan to setup ebox from the scrach as well, and samba is as well an option, but all my NFS files must be converted and I expect a hard job) Andreas _______________________________________________ ebox-user mailing list [email protected] http://lists.ebox-platform.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/ebox-user
