I really need your kind help once again. I am going to setup eBox as a new File Server. It will be the PDC with about 30 clients mixed of Windows XP Professional and Linux Ubuntu clients. I learned that eBox can simply and quickly create new folder sharing that will be belong to a certain user or group, and with certain rights. However, the thing is that the user rights management which I am having here is quite complex, and I need your opinion on how accomplish the following: 1. Grant a certain user from a certain group, to have full r+w+x access to a certain sub-folder under a main folder which belongs to a different group. Plus the ability to write new files in that sub-folders, in a way that the users that belong to the group of where the main folder is belong to, will be able to either r, or rw, or even r+w+x. For example: - Accounting group has 3 users named John, Gina, and Felix (names are fictional and not related to anything) - John is the Accounting Director and may occasionally access (needs r+w+x rights) the contents of a sub-folder named Stocks, which is under the folder Workshop that belong to another group named Workshop with 2 users named Bill and Joe. - John will occasionally write a new file into the sub-folder named Stocks, which Bill should be able to do r only, while Joe r+w (called masking?) - In the Accounting group shared folder there is three sub-folders named Payroll, Taxes, and Billings. John can do r+w+x to these three folder, while Gina can only do r to the sub-folder named Taxes, and Felix can do r+w to the sub-folders named Taxes and Billings. 2. Grant a certain user from a certain group, to have full r+w+x access, to a certain file either located on his own group folder and/or sub-folder, or other groups folder and/or sub-folder, while leaving other users can either only do r, or have no access at all. For example (continuing from the example above): - John and Bill will be able to do r+w+x to a file named new_engine_specs.doc which is located on the sub-folder Stocks, while Joe and the rest of other users have no access at all to this file. - John will be able to do r+w+x to a file named ge_billings.doc which is located on the sub-folder Billings, while the rest of the Accounting group users have no access at all (note, in example 1 Felix is given r+w to this sub-folders Billings). TIA for the help people. -- Best regards, Steve Nadjari +6281382755875 _______________________________________________ ebox-user mailing list [email protected] http://lists.ebox-platform.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/ebox-user
