Hi
I have been trying to get a linux client to authenticate using a ebox1.3
server but with no luck.
I can use the same server to authenticate a windows machine (both clients are
running as virtual machines in Vbox)
The linux (virtual) machines are running Kubuntu 9.10 and I have also tried
with Kubuntu8.04 and 9.04
I have tried just installing auth-client-config and libnss-ldap and I have
tried with ebox-desktop on the 9.04 and 9.10 installations.

I followed the instruction at http://trac.ebox-
platform.com/wiki/Document/Documentation/EboxDesktop for the server and client
machines.

I have tried the following variations as well
on the server I edited /etc/default/slapd to change SLAPD_SERVICES to use
ldap://0.0,0,0 (as it was originally) instead of 0.0.0.0:389 I also tried
192.168.1.7 with and without the port (that being the ip of the server
on the client I reconfigured auth-client-config to use ldap://192.168.1.7:389
or
just ldap://192.168.1.7
my client authorization log shows that the ldap server is not available

I tried (on the server) to run ldapsearch but that expects authorization,
which fails with both the admin password I was asked for on installation and
the password stored in /var/lib/ebox/conf/ebox-ldap.passwd

My guess is that the problem with the linux clients is that they can not
search the ldap server as they can not provide the right credentials but what
do I tell them to use?
(the firewall on the ebox server is set to allow ldap)

Anyone with any ideas what to try next?
