Hello DIMonS,
  are you trying to send or to receive mail?.
  If you are receiving make sure you had the pop3 or imap service
activated.
  If you are sending, the email server musy authorize your host.
  To do so add your host address or network adress to a network object,
then click in the' settings' tab of the Mail->General page and authorize
the object.

If all of this doesn't work I advise you to look at  /var/log/mail.log
to get clues about what is going on.
