Hi,

The next version will only run in Ubuntu. We really want to release an Etch or
Lenny version too, but I can't tell you when as it depends on the resources
we will have in the future.

I haven't tried yet, but I don't think it will be very painful to make it work
on Etch or Lenny.

Our recommendation will be to backup your old ebox, reinstall the machine and
restore the backup. I strongly recommend installing a new eBox in a virtual
machine, restore the backup and check everything is working ok before
reinstalling the actual production machine.

To do that smoothly, we will focus during the next weeks on having a solid
restore backup system and create procedures and documentation to guide you
through this process. So to help us with this task, we would appreciate if
you guys try to restore backups of your production machines in virtual or
spare machines and you give us feedback. The final goal is having a rock
solid backup mechanism.

We have created tools to work in a more fine-grained way with backups, things
like restoring just one module, just data configuration, and so on. We are
working on tools to help with the users and groups module which is probably
the weakest part when it comes to restore a backup from Debian to Ubuntu. But
as I said before, in a few weeks we will provide the tools and procedures
which help to carry out this task smoothly.
