hi,

I've added by hand (no corresponding entry in the GUI) a search
line to /etc/resolv.conf so that the DNS might find the hosts using
short names.

the right line in nsswitch.conf says :
hosts: files dns

so when I nslookup in a shell the short name is correctly resolved
but squid does not find the IP.

my question is : does squid use the general DNS configuration
or not ? if the first case, why can't he resolve names which can be
resolved by nslookup ? in the second case, how can the squid name
resolution scheme be configured ?

thanks,
michal

ps. my Ebox version is 0.11.101
