Background
I followed the link to download echovnc viewer earlier today and met with
some success at home.
My 2k3server could be viewed from my WinME system but not vice versa as
connection
seemed to be made and then lost. I'm not overly concerned as I have other
PCs at home to try out XP and MediaCenter access and teh ME system is long
overdue an upgrade of H/W and OS.
I put the 2 log files on the 2k3server and came into work to retrieve them
via echoserver :-} ...
Unfortunately, this does not appear to work as the demo echo server remains
disconnected
when I try from work.
Notes:
I read from the archives that latest version is 1.5n and (from UK Kent
mirror) I fetched 1.31 :-{
At home, the installs went OK. At work, however, to my XP (just upgraded to
sp2) system, the install worked with an error. The dialog etc. seems OK
operationally (except that I cannot connect to demo server).
Immediate Problems

This Install error is a pop-up with message "IPersistFile::Save failed code
0x8007005 Access is denied.

Now this could just be some domain policy setting or something on my PC, but
I need some hints on where to look please.

The WAN to which we connect from work is pretty secure though I can get to
my router at home
although not past that for VNC (which is why I'm here)
Is it possible that the demo server itself is blocked by "them". As access
is via a proxy,
I can't simply ping demo.echovnc.com or do a local nslookup on it

Again, any advice on how to investigate where the blockage is ?
