Scott, the tray icon problem seems to be solved. Great that it's much more dynamic so it's not needed to restart the service to hide or unhide the tray icon!

The pre-release of version 2.20 is now available: ftp://ftp.echogent.com/EchoVNC/bin/EchoVNC-2.20PRE-Setup.exe This version includes many of the requested minor repairs (trouble with vnclang.dll, service tray icon not going invisible, etc.), and is also includes our best effort with Vista UAC support. As many of you know...Windows Vista has a advanced security feature call "User Account Control" (UAC) which does not play nicely with VNC. Many actions on a Vista PC (e.g., deleting some files, opening regedit, etc.) cause a "UAC Popup", that requires explicit user approval. However...that popup is *not* displayed in the same console session that VNC is remoting. So, in previous versions, the remote user can't see the popup, and so can't approve it. In this release, we've attempted a workaround: the EchoVNC Server automatically detects the UAC popup and then instructs the Viewer to "reconnect" to the Vista PC, specifically to the special console window that's displaying it. Then the remote user can access it. A bit convoluted, but I think it works... One caveat: it requires you to install EchoVNC as a Windows service, on the Vista PC, so that it has permission to work with UAC. Most users run EchoVNC as a service, though, so no biggie. As usual, any feedback is appreciated! -Scott ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
