There have been some negative comments on this list recently. My experiences have been different. I have implemented an echo server that has run (in this order) on a Windows/XP system, a Windows Vista system, a Windows 2003 server and now a Windows 2008 server. I support clients on all of those systems (no Macs, no Linux). I've had a great experience with the Echo Server and EchoVNC. InstantVNC is a little slow and flaky with Vista, and I've had a few problems I've had to work around with 64-bit Windows 2008 in a Hyper-V environment and with clients with multiple large screens, but all and all I've had a great experience. And I've found Scott and the gang to be concerned and responsive to any problems I've reported. I've structured my business to depend on EchoVNC and it's been a good choice.
Thanks Scott. Christian: Heya. Some answers: 1. Support for RDP and RAdmin is fully implemented in EchoVNC. 2. The same EchoVNC application can help make connections to both VNC and RDP, but you cannot have a VNC and RDP session active at the same time. 3. Exactly what version of EchoVNC are you running on the unstable machines, and exactly what flavor of Windows OS is on that machine? 4. An EchoVNC server will auto-reconnect to the echoServer. That is, once it's connected, it will always try to reconnect. If it connects and fails password authentication to the echoServer, it will stop trying to auto- reconnect. That is, assuming you have the latest versions of everything. 5. Please run "services.msc" from the Windows command line, and remove the old echoServer service instance, the "one busy creating error messages". Then you should be able to create a new one that works correctly. Exactly what version echoServer and Windows are you running on your echoServer PC? cheers, Scott On Apr 20, 2009, at 8:36 AM, Christian Bechter wrote: > Hello > > I'm new to EchoVNC and EchoServer and therefore some "stupid" > questions (in fact not these are but myself i suppose...) > > - Do i need ServerMirror to connect to an rdp-Server or is it fully > implemented in EchoVNC? > - My Terminal-Servers are only XP Pro with Sala's Terminal patch, > and on some machines i can select the option "Allow EchoVNC to > tunnel Remote Desktop connections", but not on all - all are patched > XP pro machines. > - Is it possible to run rdp and EchoVNC sessions on the same > machine?
