There was mention on the back in April about an echovnc "server" for
Linux, and one of the Devs mentioned that he was working on an
instantvnc for linux that would work with an existing vnc server
implementation (e.g. x11vnc or tightvnc, etc). Any more news on that?
I'm in a position where I would like to be able connect to a Linux
machine running a vncserver instance, and the echoware server really
solves quite a few problems for me....

thanks

Hello! Nope, no news yet. Been busy trying to get the echoWare port
of
Java working. Once that's stable, I can build an "InstantVNC"-like
Java app
that should work on anything. Should.

Scott,

I already have modified JavaViewer code that will connect through an
EchoServer. It uses my C++/Java shim, but I plan on modifying it to use the
new pure-Java library instead.

It's based on UltraVNC, which is licensed under the GPL, so it will also be
GPL'd. I'll be happy to share.

Heyaz. There's a pre-release of the 1.71 build of the Windows
echoServer on
our ftp site today:

ftp://ftp.echogent.com/EchoServer/windows/beta/echoserver_1.71_pre01.zip

It's a "stability update", compiled against the latest library
updates for Win7,
Win2k8, etc.

Happy for any feedback from anyone running the echoServer on one of
those platforms.

cheers,
Scott

Something going on with Server. I chose server off the list it says
connecting and....nothing happens. It didn't bring me to password window. I
had to cancel connection attempt as it was taking forever.

I appreciate your help,

Same on win7 x64. ( still has some potential issues with UAC - ex... when
you run it on a machine with uac active - you end up not being able to
control elevated apps and can't click on elevation windows - but that is
expected )

Just by luck I had a client call this morning needing VPN and Remote Desktop

installed on his new laptop. It was running Windows 7.

EchoWinVNC worked! Well kinda. My keyboard typing seemed a little slower
than normal. But I am not running the latest rev either.

Instant VNC v 1.4
echoWare v 1.999
echoServer v 1.65
VNCViewer v 2.32

FWIW, this setup works very well on Vista

Hi,

This option can not be enabled even if
Policy "Allow remote connections via Terminal services is enabled"
Not enabling the policy and enabling manual via "Workplace -> Properties ->
Remote -> Allow Rdesktop"
then EchoVNC Option could be enabled.
EchoVNC does not recognize "Enabled Option" when Rdesktop is anabled via
"Win Policy"
This should be fixed.

Kind Regards
Chris

I have connected to a few computers where I can not make out the screen.
The image is almost squashed together. This is usually happens on a dual
monitor. See link before for the image.

Here's the version I am using:

EchoVNC Viewer 2.35 and echoWare version 1.999.15
InstantVNC - version 1.40 and echoWare version 1.999

Go any ideas? Thanks!

Hi-

I have a reliability problem with EchoVNC file transfers. It seems to take
me several times to get the file transfer to start. Once it starts
everything works fine but it does not start reliably. If it doesn't start
the communications window shows no data being transferred and the "Stop"
button doesn't work and I have to disconnect and reconnect and try again.

Am I doing something wrong or do I have an incorrect setting?

Thanks,

-Tom McDaniel
