I hope someone can shed some light on what could be interfering in my
echovnc efforts.
both the remote-server and the viewer-pc are running winxp-sp3 full updated
with windows firewall in default settings. both are confirmed running the
latest echovnc versions. both boxes I built myself are near identical
p4-2.4ghz, i did the software installs, config and security audit myself
(except i didnt replace the windows firewall with GhostWall)
I can connect from the viewer to the remote and login successfully but thats
about as far as it goes. if the remote has been left sitting with a user
logged in then after the viewer connects and logs in it appears that nothing
is actually functional and the remote-screensaver wont even exit. if the
remote has been left at the windows login screen then after the viewer logs
on I can usually actually select a user and type in the password and
remotely login as that user and I can see their desktop and then there is no
further response from the remote.
however some tests have demonstrated tha even though the viewer is not
seeing any screen refreshes the mouse clicks and keyboard signals are sent
to the remote and executed like it should but even if a software opens it
can not be seen by the viewer.
so it is kind of like it works like one might expect until the remote has a
user logged in and then it appears to not work at all.
if there is any other piece of info I could add to figure this out please
let me know. if there is a log somewhere that could shed some light, please
let me know.
even grasping at straws would be worth trying at this point.
