Mine is not exactly the same. lspci | grep USB shows :-

00:07.2 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C586B USB (rev 02)

Same chipset, different revision.

Strangely this modem works very reliably under win98 using the fujitsu driver
supplied with the modem (shame about the stability of the rest of the OS).

I also have a USB mouse and HP ScanJet2100c USB Scanner and both seem to work
reliably on Linux.

Guess I will try to look through the driver code for these 2 devices and see
if they needed a patch for VIA chipset and if they did then whether it can be
patched into the modem USB code.

If I run lspci -vv the USB chipset data returned is :-

00:07.2 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C586B USB (rev 02) (prog-if
00 [UHCI])
        Subsystem: Unknown device 0925:1234
Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr-
Stepping- SERR- FastB2B-
        Status: Cap- 66Mhz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort-
<TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR-
Latency: 64, cache line size 08
Interrupt: pin D routed to IRQ 10
        Region 4: I/O ports at e400 [size=32]

Maybe there are some settings for thre UHCI driver that can be changed to
improve reliabiliy - the only USB setting I can find in linux powertweak is
for latency and changing this seems to have no effect.

I don't seem to have any USB settings in the BIOS other than enable/disable
USB and enable/disable USB keyboard. Currently USB is enabled and keyboard
is disabled.
