When running your MDK9 (yak!), is ehci-hdc module loaded ('lsmod' as root)?
If so, modprobe -r it and launch startmodem, which wouldl load the relevant
USB 1.1 Controller Interface module according to your hardware (for now, it
only supports UHCI and OHCI).
ehci-hdc is for USB2.0. Also check if your mother board has USB 1.1 and USB
2.0 ports, and plug your modem in the 1.1 one!
