dear support
I am trying to use your package
eciadsl-usermode-0.5-2.i586.rpm

[ I had not realised that the packet was designed for ECI USB ADSL.
A friend had said it would work also with the ericsson adsl]

(your comments in howto.txt concern the
Rfrence : archive usermode-X.Y.tgz prsente sur
http://eciadsl.sourceforge.net/, section Downloads.
Using the rpm packet no make & make install commands should be given,
I think)

I use an adsl model
ericsson HM120dp on LINUX red hat 7.3
(provided now by Italian Telecom. Beforehand the Alcatel speed touch
modem was used. Then they replaced it with the ericsson model)

after installing the packge with the command
rpm -i eciadsl-usermode-0.5-2.i586.rpm
and updating the the adsl file as described in your hoto.html

I run the command you advice receiving the following script

root@localhost bin]# startmodem | tee log.txt
 the system answers

which: no eci-load1 in (/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin)
test : /usr/local/bin/eci-load1
which: no eci-load2 in (/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin)
Init modem ...
I can't find your modem... sorry :-(

from typing ./eci-doctr.sh I get

You are using linux kernel version 2.4.18-3
Support for USB is OK
Preliminary USB device filesystem is OK
UHCI support is OK
OHCI support is OK
/dev/ppp is OK
HDLC support is OK
HDLC support is OK (no bug)
dabusb module is not loaded: OK

then

I looked at my usb devices file and I replaced the vendor and id in the
startmodem file with the correct for the modem adsl I use

P: Vendor=08ea ProdID=00ca Rev= 1.00 <------------- this information
S: Manufacturer=GlobeSpan Inc.
S: Product=USB-ADSL Modem
S: SerialNumber=7FA55B

Now the startmodem program went further , up to
Init modem ...
        Setup modem ...
Can't find your GlobeSpan USB ADSL WAN Modem
ECI Load 2 : failed!
Failed to setup the modem

the problem is , I guess, that in the binary file
/etc/eciadsl/eci_wan3.bin

there are not the proper information about my modem ..Can't find your
GlobeSpan USB ADSL WAN Modem...

Since the /etc/eciadsl/eci_wan3.bin file is binary I am stack at this
point.
unless someone provides the proper file

best wishes
Maurizio
