I testet that just now. My record-stores are persistant. Which method of 
running the Midlet did you choose?

Do not forget to close an emulator before you start another one! 
Otherwise a new "phone" will be simulated. You can regognice the phone 
by the number which is displayed in the topline of the emu-app.

There is a function in Display. It is called setCurrentItem. E.g use 
display.setCurrentItem(textField); for making textField acitve.

Be careful. I recognized many problems with that issues. Not every phone 
behaves as you expect.
