Hello,
Just to solve my own newbie problem for future people:
The images were not being added to the jar because I was just copying them
into the folder, instead I needed to use the Package Explorer in eclipse
right click the res folder and select import, then General -> File System.
The instructions seem to imply that all files found in the resources
directory will be added to the jar. So perhaps I have a setup issue as well.
Thanks again for the response.
