Yes, this doesn't happen on my station but I've seen it in the past.
It is probably because the source document has no sessionId attached.
This is the code that causes the error :
CoreSession documentManager = CoreInstance.getInstance().getSession(
doc.getSessionId());
return documentManager.getParentDocument(doc.getRef());
I've seen this problem when the document was created via LiveEdit(web services) and the newly created document indeed didn't had the sessionID.
But in the test case the documents exist beacause the user is modifying it's workflow.
Maybe something has changed and the sessionId is not set anymore.
I will update everything from SVN and run the test-cases again.
