To easily sign the xpi files it is advised to use the mccoy utility :
http://developer.mozilla.org/fr/docs/McCoy
However we should store the private rsa key somewhere along with the key
passphrase. It should not be put under public revision control otherwise
anybody could spoof the signature. Hence we need to make a decision on where to
store the key.
