Upload widget doesn't work anymore on IE6 and IE7

As reported by Nuxeo community, the richfaces component used to upload files
does'nt work :
- a Javascript error occurs each time a page is displayed (see attached
screenshots)
- this may be due to an incompatibility with the last version of prototype we
are using
Works fine on IE 8
