web engine does not display the correct page

Here is the repeatable sequence of actions (on 5.3.1 Snapshot):
1) Run jboss based system with your own webengine module
2) go to http://localhost:8080/nuxeo/site
You will be redirected to a login page.
3) Login as administrator
You will be taken to the WRONG page. This is a different problem, not the
subject of this jira.
4) Type in URL again: http://localhost:8080/nuxeo/site
5) Choose your own application from the list of sites (in my case 'connect')
The correct page is displayed in the URL location and the content is cleared,
but the correct content is not displayed. The theme also is not changed
indicating that there is some part of webengine that is confused.
6) Hit 'reload' and page is displayed.
