subject is a hierachical directory that holds the same values than topic and
subtopic, it can be removed from this interface but should be kept because it's
more generic (and because it could be useful once we have widgets displaying n
levels in a hierarchy).
search_operators is not used by smart search, i guess it's not used anymore.
