Are people supposed to see public social workspace from the DM tab?

A user can see a public workspace from his user dashboard and from the
collaboration dashboard, and he can see the workspace's public dashboard.
However, when he goes on the DM tab, he cannot see the social workspace. He
needs to join the workspace to be able to see it from the DM tab. Is this the
wanted behaviour?
