Mozilla is working on a in-browser javascript rendering of PDF documents:

Combined with the ability of OpenOffice to generate good quality preview of
most office files this could be very useful to generate better rendering of
in-browser previews of office files in Nuxeo (instead of the current bad
quality HTML preview) without having to install any kind of browser plugin.
