Greets All: I just subscribed to the list and will try and address a few q's from an Oct. post....
1) Reasons for joining the list: I've been interested in content management systems for some time. Most of my experience is with wcm but recognized the need for good os ecm. Glad to see Alfresco and Nuxeo step up to the plate.... 2) Plans to contrib to project: Alas, I don't code Java, or much of anything else these days... I'm an experienced Unix Sysadmin (FreeBSD, OpenBSD, HP-UX Certified), however, and may be able to contribute some on that front if it's not all being handled in house by Nuxeo staff. Haven't kept up with the Linux distro of the month as of late because *BSD Rocks:) 3) Future usage: In house testing and evaluation, along with Alfresco. Possible deployment at a non profit org we manage the network for. Would appreciate greatly if those more seasoned than I on the ecm scene could offer some compare/contrast w.r.t. Nuxeo/Alfresco. 4) Nuxeo EP vs. Nuxeo RCP: Don't know enough about either yet to say... 5) Proposed Archeticture: I last looked at CPS a few years back before it had really transitioned into an ecm and at that time opted for Plone for my wcm needs so I can't really make any authoritative statements but I think moving to Java is probably a good move. It will bring a bag of mixed blessings - "Enterprise Compatibility/Interoperability" is a big plus but at the cost of the "Rapid Development" afforded by the Python/Zope stack. I think it's worth it though because Java is in wide spread use w/many contributors and offers many projects/technologies/tools to build on. Also affords relatively painless DB independence, wh/is something Zope is sorely lacking. Basically echo what Nuxeo has already said on the topic. -- Best regards, Ken Gunderson "The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases."
