What do you mean by "by domains or by workspaces"? The problem of huge directories is only for the users management screens, not the workspace screens. You can already create groups of users (in the builtin sql directory) and affect the read / write permissions to those groups on your domains / workspaces (and block permissions for the default group 'membres' as well if you wish).
