Nuxeo Weekly News #5

(Online version: http://www.nuxeo.org/sections/news/nuxeo-weekly- news-5/ )

Conferences

Nuxeo will be present at the Sun Tech Days in Paris, on 19-21 March.

I (Stefane) will give a short (10 minutes) talk on the Nuxeo project (where does is come? why did we switch to Java? what we are looking for in terms of collaboration with the community?) during a session organized on March 21 by OSSGTP, an association of developers of open source Java projects.

Roadmap

We have updated the long-term roadmap for the Nuxeo 5 (Runtime, Core and EP) projects on nuxeo.org.

The short-term (Jira) roadmap towards Nuxeo 5.1.M2 and Nuxeo 5.1 has been also updated as each task is completed.

New subproject

Julien and Georges R. have started working on a advanced search server, which can be used either inside Nuxeo EP or as a standalone application.

The code, which leverages the OpenSymphony Compass project, is already in the svn repository.

Nuxeo in the news

We got several interesting articles in the French press this week. Since most of you don’t read French, we’ll leave the details to this news item on nuxeo.com.

Nuxeo has been nominated (“finalist”) for the “Red Herring European 100 Awards”.

Screencasts

Jean-Marc Orliaguet has announced a new screencast of NXThemes, with “support for presets in the style editor” and “a preview window that makes it easier to choose between the different values available. Presets are classified by categories (font, color, ..)”.

He did another screencast to showcase importing a theme from an arbitrary URL. This was explained in this message in the list.

Community

Mirto Silvio Busico has volunteered to update the italian tranlations in Nuxeo EP.

Such contributions are of course very helpful for the project to gain an international user base. Please contact us if you are willing to help. (There are currently about 750 messages that need to be translated in the application, which is roughly 1/2 day to 1 day of work. This work can be distributed among several contributors, of course.)

I wrote a blog entry (“Are Nuxeo’s open source projects truly community-driven? You bet they are!”) on the subject of openness and participation.
