Hi,

I don't understand what "the web app can't access the component" means in technical terms, nor "It can see the RuntimeService" nor "when I try to get the actual component".

Please provide at least the error messages you get, or the code that doesn't do what you expect it to do. Also please explain where you organize all the various files in the deployed JBoss, with some directory listing for instance.

So I have several moving parts working with the Runtime so far...all based off of the initial demo.

1. Simple component (Identical to demo component for all purposes)

2. Simple extension. (Ditto)

3. Simple web app - demo page, kicks off a servlet. The servlet executes the code to access the component....as per the Runtime Guide.pdf. (Which incidentally doesn't work...the component part)

4. All of these components are building and being loaded correctly into JBoss4 on their own.

5. I created an Ear file to roll these up. It loads fine.

6. I added an extension descriptor file in the web app war file. It loads fine.

Now here is the kicker...I have all of these files written, building, loading, and running...just to prove that we can load the component extensions from the web app. And the damned web app can't access the component. Literally. It can see the RuntimeService. But when I try to get the actual component I get nothing.

So like my post yesterday...same problem basically, different day. Can anybody help? I'm certainly willing to send a copy of the ear file for somebody to have a good laugh. I'm sure it's just someting that I haven't seen in the (lacking) Runtime documentation.

Thanks everybody!!!

Steve
