I don't have any files in app/data/nested-bundles, what do you think is broken
in my deployment ?

It seems a library is missing from your app. Check the JAR
app/bundles/nuxeo-core-schema-1.4-SNAPSHOT.jar
and make sure it contains the lib/xsom-20060306.jar.
After starting the app. look into app/data/nested-bundles and make sure

you have a jar
nuxeo-core-schema-1.4-SNAPSHOT.jar-lib_xsom-20060306.jar

If you don;t have these jars something is broken in your client
 deployment
