Stefane,

Thanks for the update.

At the beginning of November I am taking a week to start defining our requirements and analyzing what is available. We are going to try and keep the list short to Nuxeo and Alfresco since we are a java shop. I'm hopefully that one will be able to do what we need (my impression is Alfresco is more of a product and Nuxeo is platform to build an application on).

To that end we have two areas we are concentrating on for the initial development:

- The first is a standard workflow process for managing the publishing of DVDs/CDs/Books (one of our divisions is a publishing firm). I'm pretty sure both will be able to do this one.

We want to be able to create an area that contains all of the deliverables for a client. That way a client can logon and see just their products. We will use a workflow to update/approve changes to each of the deliverable which will include graphics files and image master (which can be GB in size).

Longer term (6 months to a year) we want to hook the deliverable repository into our Production Ticket application so that we can have 1 master copy of the deliverable that everything can read from (client representatives to productions machines which do the actually production - printing/replication).

- The second use case is around publishing web sites. We want to be able to offer clients the ability to publish a custom web site. This is the area I have the least experience with and am very interesting in learning about WCM which was on the orignal 5.2 roadmap. To start with the sites we offer will be static (even if they are generated dynamically). We are looking at a WCM system so that we can increase the functionality over time.

This is the area I need to spend time thinking about what the applications we will implement/deploy provide so that we can provide a service to our customers.

I have been following the lists for a bit. We are fluent in several of the technologies use to build nuxeo (with OSGI being the only one we don't have experience with).

Having said all of that, I like what I have seen with my quick review of nuxeo and am waiting for my week in November so that I can learn more about WCM.

Thanks,
Chris....

Yes, the roadmap (for Nuxeo 5.2) needs to be updated, and will be soon (hopefuly next week).

In the meantime, feel free to discuss your needs and use cases.

For the 5.1 branch, the situation is simpler: we're going to do a 5.1.2 release this week (probably on Friday).

I was looking at the Nuxeo roadmap on nuxeo.org. Has this been updated recently and is the timeframe for all of the functionality on the list realistic. In the next few weeks, I am about to start evaluating cms options and there is a lot of functionality that would be very useful for my project that has been scheduled to be included in the next release.

Thanks,
Chris....
