What I mean is, this is not just a simple adaptation of the current
JCR code, as of course the JCR backend is coded with the JCR APIs in
mind.
Coding a new backend would mean making sure that you're familiar with
the existing internal APIs of Nuxeo Core (around the CoreSession
interface).
As Éric says, we'd be interested in seeing what you do and helping you
if possible.
