I would like to try nuxeo EP on my computer. It has a sempron cpu and 256Mb of memory. Just after launching nuxeo my computer swap continuously. The memory usage reported by top for java and firefox are clearly too too much!

You need more resources than just 256 Mb of RAM.

1 Gb is the minimum for a production instance, though I have been able to run Nuxeo on 700 Mb virtual machines (using Xen). But that was just for the server, not for the server + a user environment + Firefox.

I tried this

  JBoss Bootstrap Environment

  JAVA: /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0.14//bin/java

JAVA_OPTS: -Dprogram.name=run.sh -server -Xms128m -Xmx128m - XX:MaxPermSize=128m -Dsun.rmi.dgc.client.gcInterval=3600000 - Dsun.rmi.dgc.server.gcInterval=3600000

CLASSPATH: /opt/nuxeo-5.1.3.2.GA/bin/run.jar:/usr/lib/jvm/ java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0.14//lib/tools.jar

Even with a setting like 32m, my computer is dying (nuxeo also).

What kind of computer does require this software?
