Many thanks for your submission, but I remembered there is already a way
to do it: the event holds a "comment" entry in its options map, and it
will be taken by default by the event message if the original comment is
null.
Just add, for instance, the following to your edit template:
<h:inputTextarea
value="#{changeableDocument.contextData['request/comment']}" />
