Hi Peter,
The current implementation of OSGi used in Nuxeo EP is an ad-hoc
implementation done by us. We initially (two years ago) needed only a
small subset of OSGi, basically a spec to describe component
dependencies, and it was easier in the initial phases to just roll our
own. In addition, we had other needs (a flexible services story,
distributed services, configuration via extension points) for which
OSGi didn't yet have a compelling story.
However we now feel it's time to think about integrating a standard
OSGi implementation (we don't want to commit to a specific one at this
stage). So yes, in the coming months we'll work in that direction,
please stay tuned.
