I don't think this "singleton" feature is already implemented.
I would say that a synchronous listener could do the trick.
Listener can do the check and throw an execption (or ask for rollback)
if there is already an instance of this doc type in the container.
A facet could be used in order to make your listener more generic.
About a good idea : why not if you have use cases :)
