Does anyone know if Nuxeo penalizes the indexing speed of Lucene?
There's always a cost to having a complex framework on top of a simple library. The framework has to actually store the documents and attachments, deal with complex events, capabilities, options, UI...
Lucene can index around 100 docs/min. , and Alfresco (using Lucene) can only index 10 docs/min, which is significantly (10 times) slower. Does Nuxeo provide a more efficient indexing? Anyone has made some kind of benchmark in that sense?
First, it depends on what Nuxeo configuration and indexing backend you use. In Nuxeo 5.2, for now, we don't use Lucene for indexing, we rely on each SQL database's native fulltext indexer. So it depends a lot on the database capabilities, tuning, hardware...
In the near future we will integrate optional indexing through a Solr server.
