Hi,

the Nuxeo EP and DM 5.3.2 release is very near now, and we could use your help
in updating the translation files that have been contributed by various
community members over the years.

Here's how:

On http://www.nuxeo.org/static/translations/ you can find a set of property
files that have been generated both from existing translations, and from calls
to the Google Translate API to translate messages from the English version
(which is considered in this process as the master version).

So each file contains about 1500 entries, with some additional comments (lines
that start with a "#"). For each entry:

- The first line says if the entry is a human translation, or a Google
translation
- The next one gives the english version of a message so one can compare the
translation against it
- The next line is the translation, in the form "key=message"
- For human translated messages, I have added another comment that gives the
google translation, to one can compare the two of them (this can help detecting
issues with either one of them).

What can ou do with these files?

1. Open the file for your mother language in a text editor (not a dedicated
translation management tool, unless you really know what you're doing), as an
UTF8 encoded text file.

2. Review the translations. Of course the Google translations will be slightly
or even completely wrong in many cases, so you have to review them and correct
them if needed. You should also review the existing human translations, as
something the English message has changed since last time the translation was
updated.

3. When you've reviewed a Google translation and you're satisfied with it,
remove the comment line "google translation". (If you intend to review all the
translations in the file, no need to do this for every entry, just say it when
you send back the file).

4. Send the file back to me or attach it to this Jira entry:
https://jira.nuxeo.org/browse/NXP-5273

And that's it. This would be tremendously useful for bringing Nuxeo to your
country or community, and we'd all appreciate a bit of help on this matter.

So here you go, the translation files are here:

http://www.nuxeo.org/static/translations/

for the following languages: Arabic, Catalan, German, Spanish, Galician,
Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian (a few more are in the pipe).

If you intend to work on this (I have no idea of the time it can take, probably
a few hours), please say so in the mailing list so that no two people work on
the same file at the same time.

Feel free to discuss this process and suggest improvements.

Regards,

  S.
