Hi Benjamin,

It did work now well for me, I just uninstalled OpenOffice.org 3.1 and
installed OpenOffice.org 3.2, restarted the machine and it did work.

Now I can Live Edit all the file formats for:
MS Office (97-2003) and (2007)
OOo (Open Office.org 3.1) and (Open Office.org 3.2)

Sounds great.

Regards,
Ahmed Amir

Hi Benjamin,

So far...

I was able to edit MS Office files in MS IE

.doc .xls .ppt (97-2003)

.docx .xlsx .pptx (2007)

I was able to edit MS Office files in Firefox

.doc .xls .ppt (97-2003)

(This worked by manually adding “MS Office mimetype mapping with MS
Office” in this link. Previously
what I did is that I pressed the button “Add default MSOffice mapping” in
“NxEdit
Protocol Handler” Firefox Add-ons.)

.docx .xlsx .pptx (2007)

(These format files I wasn’t able to edit them, I don’t even have the
edit icon shown for them, even I did add “MS Office mimetype mapping with MS
Office” for these format files.)

I was able to edit OOo files in MS IE

.odt .ods .odp

I was able to edit OOo files in Firefox

.odt .ods .odp

(In this link I wasn’t
able to download this file LiveEdit for OOo, instead I did download this file
which is the same as this file.)

Therefore, my only problem now is that I can't edit MS Office files (.docx
.xlsx .pptx (2007)) in Firefox.

Hi,
Did you configure the firefox protocol handler ? You have to click on
"tools/add-ons". Click on settings for the protocol handler. Set the program
locations that will used the protocoal handler. This must resolved your problem
with Live Edit on FF.

Tell us if it's right,
Benjamin

Hi,

I'm following the steps in this link regarding the Desktop Integration, I was
able to sucecfully apply the "Drag and Drop" in both of Internet Explorer 8 and
Mozilla Firefox 3.5.13, but when i'm trying to apply the "Live Edit", I'm
facing some problems:

First of all, I was able to download all the files on the earlier mentioned
link except this LiveEdit for OOo

(I did install for "Drag and Drop" msi installer, Drag and Drop for Firefox
Extension)

(I did install for "Live Edit" msi installer, FF protocol Handler)

I was able to edit MS Office files in MS IE
I wasn't able to edit MS Office files in Firefox
I wasn't able to edit OOo files in MS IE
I wasn't able to edit OOo files in Firefox (even though I have the edit icon
showed)

P.S. I followed the instructions on this link also

Hope any one can tell me what I'm missing.

Regards,
Ahmed Amir
