Seasons greetings everyone,

We just did a new major release of Nuxeo and it's called
Nuxeo Platform 5.5 .

It ain't called DM nor DAM nor CMF nor SC, just Nuxeo
Platform. Don't worry we didn't toss them out. They are just
available as modules that you can choose during the install
wizard.

For projects having a custom distribution based on one of
ours, no problem, we provide presets to automatically
transform the new unique Tomcat distribution into one that
looks exactly like DM, DAM or CMF. Also, the "EAR" (zip)
assembly still exists.

This is also the opportunity to align each module with the
same version number. This will be much easier for everyone
to follow. So now every module released is 5.5. And we'll do
a release of the whole platform for each new version. That
will make hot fix management much easier! :)

You can download it right here:

You'll find the detailed release notes on the last blog from
Thierry Delprat:
http://blogs.nuxeo.com/dev/2011/12/nuxeo-platform-55-just-released.html
.

Just a quick wrap up here:
* Plain-old WAR deployment through static archive
* EJB3 phased out!
* Native Relation Store (instead of Jena)
* New Task system based on document instead of jBPM
* Theme Engine Improvement: Bring It on CSS!
* Content Persistence Engine Improvements (VCS)
* Forms Engine: more Layouts and Widgets Features
* Full support of OpenJDK 6. Started the work on OpenJDK7
* And finally you can use the IDE with a stable
production-ready release.

If you want to take a look at the new features, go to our
'what's new?' page:

We hope you'll enjoy this new release as much as we enjoyed
making it :)
Happy Holidays from all the elves at Nuxeo :)
