In future versions of Nuxeo we want to allow their simultaneous use, but at the moment we still have some incompatibilities in a few internal packages (Seam components) that prevent us from installing both at the same time.
One thing you can do to use both at the same time is to run Nuxeo in cluster mode, with one cluster node using CMF and the other DM/DAM.
