1- A close friend of mine recently got it, he works for Erickson here in Dallas, he went to KHI in the last week of Nov. 2002, he had H1-B I-787A (Work Permit from INS) earlier but never got to apply for visa due to restrictions later on applying for one in American Embassy in Canada/Mexico, (still he tried to get appointmnets for his interview in Canada and Mexico, got phone calls directly from the resp. embassies that he cannot apply for a visa there, so go to your home country) he applied there in PAK. in the first week of Dec 2002, (he got married in 2nd week of Dec.), got his interview after 3 weeks, after a successful interview in Dec's 3rd week (i.e. American Embassy in ISL has no issues in providing you a visa, now let's check with FBI in USA - i.e. SAO Check), after that FBI background check (i.e. SAO Check), he got his visa in the last week of Jan 2003, he then applied for his wife's visa, got an interview within 10 days, after a successful interview, she also got her visa, they came here in 2nd week of Feb. It all went pretty good for him as he got more than "2.5 months of vacation time" from his company! :-)
2- My cousin's friend applied for H1-B visa revalidation thru US State Dept. here, got his visa in 3.5 months time. he is married with one kid, both hubby and wife are Docs (earleir on J-1, now on J-1 Waiver and with H1-B).
(What is H1-B Visa Revalidation: http://travel.state.gov/hlop.html)
3- 2 other friends of my cousin applied, almost same situation/background as above (#2), both got H1-B visas revalidated after 2.5 to 3 months.
4- A friend of my cousin got his H1-B visa revalidation application rejected, he is a Doc too, married with 2 children, but he aplied only for his own visa to go to London to attend his bro's wedding - i personally think the red flag here was his application for only himself, as he didn't applied for visas for all his family.. i myself would have rejected his application. ;-) -- i don't know why poeple make these kind of idiotic mistakes...
Second hand knowledge but very reliable....
2 friends of a close friend applied, living here in dallas, both for H-1B revalidation thru US State dept., they got their visas in approx. 3 months. both are single.
My own conclusion:
H1-B visas (new or revalidation) stamping process is going on smoothly, no hurdles, no ban, it just takes some time due to new checks and procedures based on presumed guilt! :-)
i myself will be applying early next year, will post the results here FYI .... Let us know about the cases you know, it would help if you document them like i did here or better... :-) Thanks!
HTH ... Regards, - Amir

Salams to all,
I wanted to know if any one has recently stamped his H1B Visa on his passport ? I bet there must be lot of people like me who are on H1 in US and havent gone back just because of the visa delays.
I have heard that H1 visa is getting stamped earlier for folks who are (freshly) married compared to those who are singels ???? Can anyone confirm that and knows any particular logic behind this ..
Also, how much time the whole process is taking right now if a person is single vs. if he's married.
Any responses will be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
-Jazib
