CPT allows you to work for one year full time means taking off from school . In order to take CPT authorization on I-20 you will need to enroll in Co-op or intership credit hours. You cannot study full time with the CPT in hand and working full time with some company at the same time. Once you are done with your CPT you can go back to your school and finish your studies. But there is a little tricky thing that you can do to save your time and money while you are working in some state far away from your school, you can take some courses in the school near your company where you are working. For that you dont need to get new I-20 just talk to your advisor and get some approval for the courses you can take in that school as a guest student.
Guest student is a category for which you dont need admission in the school, you just go enroll yourself in that school as a guest student and you will be paying less money than typical international student and they will not even know that you are international student. So you are working on CPT in your company and taking courses in some different school as a guest student. Sometime you will need to get permission from international office from the school from where you have I-20 to take some guest courses in some other school. Now a days hard to get CPT for one year. Let me clear this guest student thing again its like going to a school to take only 3 credit hours and they will give your transcript for that but no degree, than you can send this transcript to your original school to transfer the credit hours if your advisor has approved that course. Lot of prayers for all Nedians.
I have a question regarding a foreign student on F-1 working on CPT. Here is the question.
If a foreign student is working full time with a company on CPT (after meeting all necessary conditions of CPT), is he/she required to register for any classes also, at the same time while he/she is working on CPT, noting that the student is working on CPT during fall or spring semester as full time, in a different state, other then the state he/she attends school/ university. e.g. study in texas but work as CPT in Michigan or Illinois. What the law says about this? If the student only works on CPT as full time, and register's for classes after that, is that ok?
