Assalamu'Alaikum,
I am a canadian resident working in US on H-1 authorization. I am going to Canada to get my H-1 visa stamped. It may take from 6 weeks to 6 months to get your visa stamped from US embassy in Toronto. Regardless, I have to stay in canada at least 4 months because of some personal reasons.
Does any one know "how long can I stay out of the country (US) while on H-1 status". Is there any limit on days I have to come back to US.
Also my employer needs surety that "he don not have to deposit my payroll taxes in my absence" as I will be on non paid vacation.
Any body having personal experience regarding this or have checked with Lawyer, Please reply.
